About me

Welcome to my website. I hope you enjoy my paintings and illustrations which are mostly inspired by the stunning landscapes of SW Scotland where we live.

I did an Art Foundation course then trained as a Graphic Designer in the early ’80s (pre-computers!) when you had to be able to illustrate your work with either magic marker or gouache. Artwork was hand-drawn with Rotring pens and images stuck on artboards using cow gum – the original cut and paste.

Those skills went on the backburner with the arrival of the Mac – although it does make work much easier and quicker.

I have worked, and still do, as a Graphic Designer for the last 40 years. The last 16 of those have been as a freelancer and I have been fortunate enough to have a full order book throughout that time, mostly working on magazines, catalogues and websites – with some branding thrown in for good measure.

In 2014 we moved from the Midlands to Whithorn in Wigtownshire and being here has enabled me to go back to my roots and get the paint out of retirement.

My art reflects the Graphic Designer in me and I’m happy to retain that. It has taken me a little time and a lot of doodling to finally achieve my own style but I now feel it is progressing in the right direction.

Having been the proud owner of one of the first Apple computers in the UK back in 1984 I have carried on my lifelong love of all things Apple and the majority of my work is ‘painted’ digitally using an iPad Pro and then used to create high quality giglee prints and canvases.

If you are interested in my work and have any suggestions for suitable subject matter then I would love to hear from you.

All my work is available to buy on this website or via my Etsy shop.
