Welcome to my website. I hope you enjoy my paintings and illustrations which are mostly inspired by the stunning landscapes of SW Scotland where we live. My style has come from a mashup of my Graphic Design skills and Folk Art influences which I have (I hope) developed into a unique form of contemporary Scottish landscape paintings.
I did an Art Foundation course then trained as a Graphic Designer in the early ’80s (pre-computers!) when you had to be able to illustrate your work with either magic marker or gouache. Artwork was hand-drawn with Rotring pens and images stuck on artboards using cow gum – the original cut and paste.
I have worked, and still do, as a Graphic Designer for the last 35 years. The last 10 of those have been as a freelancer and I have been fortunate enough to have a full order book throughout that time, mostly working on magazines, catalogues and websites – with some branding thrown in for good measure.
In 2014 we moved from the Midlands to Whithorn in Wigtownshire and being here has enabled me to go back to my roots and get the paint out of retirement.
If you are interested in my work and have any suggestions for suitable subject matter then I would love to hear from you. I am also happy to undertake commissions.
All my work is available to buy on this website or via my Etsy shop using the link above.
